Looks lovely! Have you had the white asparagus so popular in Germany? I wonder if it is more tender... It is often so big. Grown without the sun, something must be different.  

Weisser Spargel (asparagus) is a fave of ours. Great with ham & parm cream 😋 

So, dear, what is the difference? Tender? Tasty? Am I right that they grow it thicker? 😁 Now that I'm on a roll with questions... I wonder if it is only a spring crop. I know it takes a long time to grow any asparagus. We are planning to be there getting toward the end of August and I'd like to try! 😁

I might have to make that sauce. I have a whole crop of tarragon in my garden! 

Mel, to get the whit asparagus, I believe they continually bury it as it grows so it never sees the sun. Labor of love. 

Really, gastropod? Wow! That is something else! I have seen the white covers in the fields, and I assumed they just kept the stalks hidden from the sun. Keeping them covered in dirt goes to a whole different level! 😁 Goodness!  

Melissa .. white asparagus don't see the sun so mounding works. Generally they are more tender but the late WA asparagus ate pretty thick too. Spargelzeit in Getmany is usually late April to the Summer Solstice.

And M .. there are farms in the NW that grow white acoaragus. Get it occassionally at our local market
