Maintenance Calorie Trajectory ----> Week 17 ---> Keep Going

My mom was just considering how long she kept her 115 lb weight loss off. It will be 10 years in a few months. I told her I wished I had that many years under my belt, but then I don't because in 10 years I'll be 55, LOL. She laughed and said, "yeah, but you're doing this much younger than when I started so you'll have many years to enjoy it."

I considered this for a moment. I am glad I did this now if only because I really enjoy the fitness component of maintenance. In fact, I have to say it's in part the fitness milestones that keep this mind motivated to be nutritionally diligent.

On the fitness front, I broke some walls this week. I can now do at least 4 good push ups out of the 12 I attempt to perform in my strength training and weights routine. And, I am definitely ready to increase the reps on all the exercises in both weight lifting and strength and resistance training. Breaking apart the routines and giving them separate days has been beneficial. It allows for good recovery time. I sleep good. And, by the time I get to the next routine, the muscles are conditioned enough to take on all the reps without fatiguing so quickly.

I've also been binge watching you tube channels on cross-fit and how athletes prepare for the cross-fit games. It's not that I want to do cross fit, but I greatly appreciate the mind set behind it. There is something to be said for taking oneself just beyond a threshold, incrementally. I am learning that half the battle of reaching any goal is letting go of the stories and limitations our minds create about what we think we can and can't do or how we're supposed to do it. The other half is simply showing up to do the work - not perfectly, but consistently.

Anywho - thank you to everyone for all your support and input. It is greatly appreciated. May your week be blessed and your days filled with laughter. I'll check in next weekend!

You and your mom make a wonderful team. You mention her often in your posts. It sounds like the two of you have a rare bond. That speaks well of both of you. My claim to fame on the fitness front is that I just bought a pair of 7 lb hand weights as my 5 lb ones are now too easy. Today was day one with the new weights. Certainly made the routine harder for me!
