Gahh... another subtle food trickery ~ and I FELL for it. When WILL I learn?!
I just ordered a Caribbean Club Sandwich because it made me feel 'tropical' to THINK about eating it. I could just HEAR the reggae music in the background and smell the suntan oil. By the time I walked across the street to pick it up I was practically doing the limbo!
Of course, it was anything BUT tropical. It was just a sandwich. Just food. No party.
Note to self: must not rely on food to 'take me away'. That will be the job of my Calgon English Garden bath beads. Yes, I'll feel swept away across the pond with one deep whiff of that, by golly.

Speaking from across the pond, how about dealing with the tropicana craving by just playing some reggae, smearing yourself in suntan oil and having a dance? It'd be fun and raise a lot more endrophins than the sandwich -- and even the Calgon English Garden!

too funny, was your sandwich fetish from watching an ad on the tv? a nice soak is much better, my daughter came in and put some relax music for me on the iphone (old one that still works), she also takes in a relax voice like she is performing hyponosis and trying to envoke a peaceful state, it's very sweet. I got this bath salt from The Body Shop called Calm, it's very calming

@Lizzy, Star & Elk - thank you for the comments. This was an homage to my journal earlier in the week when I'd commented about non-foods with food labels like cookie scented candles or ice cream pedicures; all ways to lure us to indulge because it seems like food but it isn't. So I'd been looking at a take-out menu trying to help my husband think of something for lunch and the whole 'Caribbean' thing struck me as funny. I was being silly about how the very NAME assigned to actual food was meant to transport the diner into a whole other dimension, but of course, it doesn't. So I took the thought to an extreme ala 'just what would you anticipate ordering something with 'Caribbean' in the menu name. Those type of things - labels & names meant to ellicit an idea. Anyone can make a club sandwich at home; a Caribbean club sandwich must be really special, you know?

Erika - trickery names for 'drinks' ~ sooo true. I was a bartender for years and there sure are some fun yet misleading cocktails!
