Well, I'm not sure how well it's going to work out but my new plan is to accommodate my caloric intake to allow for the 1am feeding when I wake. Nothing huge. Maybe half a tortilla or biscuit with some herbal tea just to help me get back to sleep. I've proven I canNOT resume sleep without it but I have also proven it is in excess to my planned intake. And here we go.

Sounds like a good plan, hope it works for you. The way I've been eating at night, I'd have to limit my daytime eating to celery and carrots. 😩

Good for you! That is something I cannot have in my house.

I found that I had to plan on my bedtime snacks. I just couldn’t go to bed without it most nights. I’d lie there awake until I got up and ate it then I’d go right to sleep. It means lighter meals for lunch and dinner but oh well, it’s what I need. Hope it works well for you!

Have you guys tried Resistant Starches? 4 to 3 hours before bed? That'll keep your insulin and energy levels on a steady pace for the night

Also, try and not eat anything spicy that could upper your heart rate before bed, Ex: Onions, Garlic, Pepper, Caffeine, Chocolate.

The only thing I have ever had if I woke up & couldn't sleep in the night was hot chocolate or tea. But, I find if I know I'm going to want something to eat or drink any time during the day regularly planning calories for it makes sense. So your plan make perfect sense 😊

Agree with Wholefoodnut, you have to figure out and do what works for you.

Instead of biscuits or tortillas how about making yourself some 100 calorie packs of various kinds of nuts and add a coup E pieces of dried apricot or maybe raisins. That type of protein will stay with you much longer and provide your body with valuable nutrients.

Good luck. We have to work with our bodies and not against for sure. Sleep is important. Will your blood sugar still be controlled the way you want it to?
