Wifey, the big leaves in the front are from a banana tree, there are a couple here and they actually make bananas every year.

Tim, the tree with all the twisted branches is a ligustrum, also known as a privet. It's often grown as hedges rather than trees and is actually an invasive species. They produce dark purple berries that cedar waxwings love. I've seen a whole flock of them fly into a tree and eat every berry, quite a sight to see.
