Starting various garden experiments. New to me but not real gardeners. Yesterday started preparing for sweet potatoes. It is a bit crazy to try to grow them here up north but they are very delicious if they work out. So making slips is stage one.

Liv, do you want to see my tiny hydroponic set up? I can either grow them totally in there or transplant to dirt, which is what I’ll probably do since I eat tons of greens.

I too made slips but never even planted them. Occasionally I found it hard to tell which end was the root end of the potato. Remembering the instructions from a couple of years ago I googled it, and it said: "The pointed end should be down in the water." When both ends were the same and I couldn't tell, the ones I got wrong only rotted in the water. Maybe there's still time to flip yours. It also said to keep the top 1/3 of the potato exposed. The day may come when we will need to eat what we can grow. My love to you.

I didn't research and didn't know sweet potatoes should be put in the water point end down! Starting a few the right way! glad you posted this Snowwhite! I never have been successful with growing them.
