Blackberries give the best return in investment as far as price to cost of production! They spread themselves, just take care of the weeds and throw piles of leaves for them in the fall and they give berries almost through out summer!

Yes the fully black ones are sweet, the more red it is the more tart it is. I like to mix some blackish reds in...... cuz you don’t appreciate the sweetness without a little tartness 😏

I planted a blackberry bush this spring. In the meantime, there are plenty of wild ones growing nearby, wild plums too. I take the kids foraging daily. They remind me of my late father. He used to take me foraging for them.

Zenus I have wild black berries here too with thorns. Their berries has a little bitterness to them, is it the same for yours? These ones so full of flavor! Compared to store bought which tastes kinda watered down

Yes, Supergainz, just a little bitter. Unfortunately, all of our "natural" foods have been modified for sweetness & size. Have you ever looked into what fruit and veggies used to look like before being modified?

My mom used to grow these, and I don’t think they ever made it into the house 😋

I have wild raspberry and black berries. Don’t produce well but I’ve never really taken care of them. I’m going to try putting leaves on them in the fall. Thank you!!

I have a friend who lives in the country and when they bought their piece of land to build on, unknown to them, it had literally hundreds of blackberry bushes. They can’t even give away enough, let alone eat them. Never saw so many blackberries in my life!!!!!!! Unfortunately I am not a fan. I think it’s all the seeds. 🤷🏻‍♀️

What!!!! That’s blasphemy. Nothing ore blissful than a handful of blackberries straight in the mouth. The juice n flavor that floods your mouth 🤤 and the seeds are fiber.... you can even charge people after to plant blackberries in their yard 😏

Yea belly. I have a spot where wild ones grow with my cultivated ones and the wild ones really takes off when you nourish them. Their stalls would be as thick as n inch and shoots up 10ft tall! I keep them around cuz they berry out earlier than the ones I plant
