Breakfast, cottage cheese, fruit & walnuts. All they had were these giant blueberries, not what I would choose, but sometimes you have to take what you can get. 283 calories

It looks great 😸. I would love a 🥣 bowl giant blueberries are no problem for me I would fix that right up for you... 😋 Have fatigue issues today so a nice bowl of fruit 🍓🍑 so easy and tasty 😄. I might eat so more raspberries tonight if the kids didn't get to them all.

I find cottage cheese to be great but I grew up eating it 😋. So that my make me a bit bias 😅. When you do take the plunge try the small curd cottage cheese first a lot of the complaints I've ever heard about cottage cheese is textural and a lot of people have an easier time with a small curd cottage cheese and they do with large. We used to make it homemade when I was little wished I had payed more attention to my Grandma do so then... I'll have to look how to do it. If I remember correctly it wasn't difficult to do and it does taste so much better like so many things that are made homemade. I'm still not quite brave enough to make my own yogurt, but I'll get there!

It's funny as much as I adore cottage cheese and I do mind you love cottage cheese. I do not like using it in Italian recipes that call for, Ricotta. I know this texturally similar I know that it can hold the pasta similarly, I understand that it's much healthier, but personally I will take the calorific hit. 😂 I'll just eat less that day... Leave it out of my manicotti and lasagnas, teehee 😁.

Leah, I've made yogurt in my Instapot, and it came out very good, but I had to strain it, because I like Greek yogurt, And I found that messy, so I haven't done it again. I like Good Culture low-fat cottage cheese, which is small-curd. My mom used to make cottage cheese also, but in those days, I didn't like any kind of cheese, so I have no idea how it was done. I'm thinking perhaps it required raw or just pasteurized milk, though I could be mistaken.

And see that could be a difference too because we did have cows Grandmas house and fresh milk so the milk would have been unpasteurized. There's so many little differences from my childhood to today. I grew up in a dirt road, we had well water, my nearest neighbor, was our cousin who lived a mile and a half away. School was within five miles of home. We rode our horses 🐴 to the rodeo... Things change with time I remember when we got a gravel then our first paved road 🛣️. I'll look into making cottage cheese again. I've been trying to find hobbies for the family that are not screen related that we can do in the winter months for low costs. We already go to the library and park when weather permits. I'm going to start picking maybe some extra baking with the kids. We create art 🎨 and play but I like activities when possible.

I used to buy homemade cottage cheese from a neighbor I knew. It was so delicious. I can't believe how much better it was than the one in the grocery store 🙂💙

RC, homemade beats out store bought in so many things, doesn't it?

shirfleur, how did you strain the yogurt? We buy those restaurant-sized coffee filters and nest them in a strainer or colander, and it doesn't make a mess at all. My husband likes to strain it a couple of days until it's so thick you can spread it on toast like cream cheese. I'm not eating cottage cheese these days, but when I was, I found a huge difference in brands. The Albertson's store brand (Lucerne) was really good, but the Walmart store brand was awful. If you're trying it for the first time, I'd go for the full fat option in a better brand to give it a fair shake

I am going back to making my own homemade yogurt starting the end of this week. I tried making cottage cheese once but it tasted so vinegary. Is there a secret way?

Writingwyo, I had some commercial coffee filters, but all the yogurt didn't fit well, so I had overflow & there were other issues. Anyway, I like Fage yogurt and there's no mess so I'm fine. As for cottage cheese, I like Good Culture low fat.
