Just curious, for inspiration to set guidelines for myself:

How often do you allow yourself different, more indulgent meals than usual, if you get to choose when they are as opposed to someone else choosing, and what are they/how do you mitigate them?

I asked this question before calling them “cheat days” but would like even more input from people with different ways of eating. “Cheat day,” I’ve realized, is a term that reinforces an unhealthy relationship with food for many of us. I would rather describe those meals the way I just did in this post instead.

My cheat meal is a McDonald’s biscuit egg and bacon sandwich on the weekend. The macros ain’t all that bad either lol. Other than that, no cheats . Hurry up June!

Travfour, way not to overcomplicate it. A small portion of fast food literally every week in the context of an otherwise healthy diet, is just as reasonable as a nicer splurge once a month, for most of us, even if it some people are annoying and judgmental about the former.

For me, my "justification by rationalization" meals are 1 - 2 times a month. My wife and I are very good about our meals when eating at home. Then there are the potlucks, date night, trips to our daughters' homes,or just when we need to (or want to) go to our favorite restaurant. After that, I will be good and work it off for a few days.

I call it a “refeed day”! Every 4 weeks or so I just want a meal with no calorie counting. Last one was during Lent, a good fish n chips basket!
