Sharing my cholesterol results from labs taken two weeks ago because I have mentioned my focus on saturated fat and healthy fats. LDL went down 8 points. HDL actually went down 3 points even though my intake of omega 3 nearly doubled. Trigs up 9 points.

For me it comes down to more exercise and better sleep if I want to see any improvement. The drop in HDL has me questioning if flax and chia seeds were a good idea. Going back to more fish, nuts, avocado and olive oil…foods I cut back on slightly when I added flax and chia.

Im also struggling on my journey with LDL. My last numbers were 292 and i am in a negotiation till august with doc to correct thru supplements vs statins. So i started flax seed very recently also in addition RYR, berberine, doubled up on fish oil and doubled b12 and some other things i forget the name of. Your labs look awesome!!! Im happy for you. LDL is no joke.

Excellent scores — especially Trigs and LDL. I’ve noticed that everyone that eats food low in saturated fat and primarily whole foods has beautiful labs. TYFS

JB they weren’t so beautiful 6 years ago ! The changes I referenced are over the past 6 months. I agree the foods you choose are important. YOH I was on statins for 5 years (10 mg) and went off them a year ago. I have read your posts and hope everything works out for you. Thank you…I am happy too.

Honee what happened to your body when you were on statins? Im so very afraid of them and equally afraid my numbers aren’t getting better. Minus a bad day here and there i eat pretty clean tho do wishes I would eat more animal protein vs powder or shakes. Im truly so happy for you. Such a relief.

I went on a statin in January and just got my results. It slashed my LDL by more than half: it went down from 136 to 63. No side effects.

YOH we are all so different in how our physical bodies respond to food, allergens, exercise, stress, medications so I am hesitant to respond to your question. If you are concerned about side effects have regular lab work done. Particularly a CK test if the worry is about muscle damage. Lab work will eliminate any nocebo effect.

Agnes when I went off statins my ldl was 61. March 2018 it was as high as 161.

Honeebuns, that was quite a drop with the statin! I understand that you are now trying to keep LDL low with diet alone, so congratulations on your good lab results. I am deciding what to do now that LDL has been reduced with the statin. I don't want to reduce it even more, just keep it in that lower range, and my statin dose was already the lowest available (5 mg). So I just began to take that low dose statin every other day to minimize risks of side effects and to keep LDL from rising too quickly. No idea what this will do but the doctor was ok with this idea, and it will hopefully prolong my being on statins without any side effects and additional benefits, but who knows. But I think the reality is that I will mostly rely on diet, too, to keep it as low as possible. Good to see that you are successful with keeping it in a healthy range. Thanks for posting the results.
