Someone was writing about whether stress can make you eat or not want to eat. I'll find out soon enough. Just got my annual homeowner's insurance bill. $5200!! Well, at least I didn't have a stroke when I saw that. Up $2000 since last year. When I first moved here in 2011 it was around $1100 a year and eventually settled in around $1800 before huge increases started 3 or 4 years ago. I'm going to call my real estate agent to figure out what to do to get the house sold and closed before insurance is due at the end of June.

The thing I'm finding about trying to eat higher protein than carbs is I can only eat so much chicken breast and eggs only 2-4 a week. I had 2 of the beer battered cod pieces. 16 grams carbs and 10 grams protein so I feel like I need to find 12 more grams of protein without increasing carbs. So today it is't going to happen because I also had a quarter bagel and 4 strawberries. Protein will be somewhere in the 60's and carbs in the 70's. Calories may seem low but I am eating a pretty big volume of food doing IF.

I have weed wacking like crazy. Even at 9am I can barely do 45 minutes to an hour without getting hot and sweaty and not dizzy but maybe light headed. I just hired a teenager from Nextdoor who seems really eager to work. He says he doesn't mind working if it's hot outside. If he shows up I'll have a cooler with Propel and cold drinks but if it's the afternoon tell him he can do an hour every day until the work is done but not more than that if it's 85 or 90 outside. And I'll fire the current lawn service

I'm glad you will have someone to cut the grass. Everything is way too expensive now.

Thanks Morticia! Homeowner's insurance in California is crazy expensive, if you can get it. The kid seemed excited I called him. He lives somewhere in my neighborhood and said he has his own weed wacker, etc.

my auto ins went up crazy and when I call to get quotes they all just say, well ALL ins is going up in FL. That should not be an excuse and there needs to be better regulation about how & why ins can increase. Never had a claim and I'm a safe driver. EEEKKK! I also know what you mean about the heat, it has been high 90s here and it is not summer yet! I work outside sometimes and it is horrible, but at least we have a sea breeze sometimes. & I drink a lot of zero propel :-)

I'm with you on trying to increase protein and lower the carbs, I'm struggling here too! Glad you have a willing helper, sounds like the beginning of a wonderful relationship.

Yikes! That’s quite a jump and I can see why you are stressed! How are you doing now with increasing protein? I know you don’t want to use protein powder but have you ever thought about collagen powder? I take it for the nail and skin benefits but it has an added bonus os protein. I use Purely Protein Collagen Powder. I buy it from Amazon if you interested. 💜

Thanks JMA! I'm not sure how high auto insurance is here compared to other places. Seems like it is about $450 twice a year ever since I bought a new car in 2020. I don' t like hot weather and I consider 80 too hot for me to do anything outside except attend a barbecue

Thanks Sidnay! It helps if I log what I plan to eat the day before or first thing in the morning and then play around with the numbers. I had been having 2 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds as a snack and upped it 2 snacks. Now I'm going back to just one snack. The greek yogurt really helps

Thanks Diana, I actually set money aside for what I call "periodic expenses" so I have the money to pay when due. Property taxes, car and home insurance, homeowner's dues. Right now I have about $3500, and I just got the the bill from the HOA! That alone is about $3500! I always pay in full but they allow quarterly installments. Luckily I got a pretty big tax refund. I will call my agent about making a partial payment if my house isn't sold in time, which is likely . I'm doing pretty good with increasing protein and trying to keep it higher than carbs. Today instead of having a tuna sandwich, I am going to hollow out a bell pepper and stuff the tuna and mayo in there.. I have some Wonderslim protein shake packets I will use up but I do avoid protein powder per my doctor (highly processed). I had checked out collagen but don't like what it's made of.

TDPFit! Yikes! Mine might go up to $7000 next year if my house doesn't sell. I'm in a high fire area and was even evacuated a few years ago. Luckily the fire didn't get that close. My real estate agent toldcme insurance would probably be about $150 a month.

Thanks Liv! I know I'm not the only one impacted. But it's reached a point where I can't afford my house

I eat alot of chicken also, but salmon, shrimp or steak also can be a protien choice. Throw them in the food tracker and see how they might fit into your meals if you like any of them

Thanks Seller2k! I don't eat much meat usually. Once in awhile I'll buy ground beef for tacos or chili. But right now my house is for sale and I'm not using the stove. I recently renewed my Costco membership and may buy some frozen shrimp. I used to cook it on the George Foreman grill. I stopped eating it unless I eat out because it has alot of cholesterol. But it would be okay once in awhile. I've never eaten much fish and am not crazy about salmon unless someone else cooks it.. I tried poaching it once and only ate a couple bites and the cats had expensive cat treats for a couple days. Thanks for the suggestions

The State of California now offers insurance to people in your predicament now that rates have sky rocketed and some companies have stopped writing policies. Worth pricing.

Thanks HealtyNow! The California Fair plan is a last resort plan when people can't get insurance. It's more expensive. Once my house sells I'm moving out of state so hopefully will only have to cover a month. It's due the end of June.
