Who's hungry!!!
I find that I'm thinking about food ALL THE TIME. I don't know if this is because I'm trying to diet so it's on my mind, or if because I'm dieting my fat storage is being consumed and my body wants to replace it. I'm not normally a person that eats snacks, but apparently, now I am. So, I am looking for budget conscious/low fat/ low cholesterol snack food. I avoid hard foods like carrots, they hurt my teeth. I've been eating a cup of dried cereal once a day. I'm sure that this is a phase, and I'll get past this soon. I HOPE that this is a phase and I'll get past it soon. It's the between meals that might get me. I'm enjoying the meals that I have been having. I just need to find the right, filling snack to get me to the next meal.
On a side note. It seems like most people using this app are keto, or low carbs. Am I the only one trying to monitor my fat and cholesterol intake? I see all these pictures of food with all kinds of diary, cheese, eggs, and even BACON!!! You're killing me! I need to see more sexy fish, and baked chicken pictures so that I can find inspiration. LOL. All kidding aside, thank you all for your inspiration.

Week one in the books.
I found some foods are "too expensive" when it comes to the nutrients, and some are worth "the expense". for example, I didn't like the turkey sausage. I'd rather have an egg whites omelette with shredded cheese. I also learned that Dry Honey Nut Cheerios is a great mid-day filling snack. I joke that I've completed the circle of life. As a toddler I ate dry Honey Nut Cheerios for a snack and now was a senior adult I'm snacking on them again.
For this diet to be sustainable, I have to enjoy the foods and I need to feel like I'm not hungry all the time also, it has to be budget friendly.

I'm not one of those healthy guru's. I rarely stick with a diet. In fact, I've always been "anti-diet". I've had a set weight for decades. For almost 30 years, I've been the same weight, give or take a few pounds. I am obese, but I was okay with it because I just stayed the same.
My last physical showed a few red flags regarding my heart health. My family history has heart problems, on both sides. My first thought when I saw my labs and EKG was, "And so it begins."
With my husband's support I am trying to shift my diet to be more heart healthy. I am not going to go nuts and cut out all fats. I know that if I do, I'll quit. So, I am looking to replace the things that I do eat, that are my worst offenders with something that I like that are less offensive, but I like. I tried to replace my 80/20 ground beef with ground turkey. I didn't love it. I can tolerate it for a short term. But I know that this is the kind of thing that will make me want a juicy burger. I'm going to keep the ground beef but make it 90/10. They are comparable in fat/cholesterol.
I believe for me to be successful I need to take it slow and adjust to the changes. Maybe after a while I can give the ground turkey another try.
I'm 4 days into these diet changes and I am not miserable. This app has been very helpful for finding the right foods for me.

I've been obese most of my adult life (yay genetics). I'm not on a journey to lose weight. I am on a heart healthy journey. If I lose weight in the process... hooray!
I think that I might lose some weight as I am a heavy Coke/Dr. Pepper drinker. I can throw 3 cans back in a day easily. I am replacing the Cokes with Coke Zeros. That alone should knock off a couple of pounds :)
