Thank you so much, liv! I can't tell you how glad I am to see that color. When I first started this journey on FS, I was absolutely terrified I would slip and drift back to the obese, miserable human I was fighting to change. I had lost before but never maintained. I'd always lose momentum or some challenge would be faced and I would give up. I am still nervous when that line changes color and the old habits feel like they are getting a grip on me, but with the help and support here, I keep going. Maybe that is weakness that I need you. Maybe I it is humility knowing I can't do this alone yet. Whatever, I am so grateful for the kindness and support of my friends here who don't give up on me and keep motivating me to push on. Thank you! Thank you to all of the people who have changed my life! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I watched an interesting video about weight maintenance and why it's a struggle for many people. I'm not sure what I think. It's hard to find that balance between not letting ups and downs get to you, and not letting things truly get out of hand.

Thank you so much for all of your support and believing in me, Princess! ❤️ LaughingChevre, in some ways I am surprised how off plan I can be, and before long and after some days of hard work the weight shifts back to around "goal." I told princess just this morning that I wonder if holding close to a particular weight for long enough makes it a body's comfortable set point. It is always work, but it doesn't seem quite as hard to maintain as it did a year ago for instance. Maybe I just have a bad memory! 😁

Thank you, Lonnie, br_e_co, 🐻, and Bill! It really feels good to be back on track and eating better. Feeling full and out of control isn't a very happy place, so why go there? I don't really know why I do... I'm working on doing better. 😁 ❤️

Eating produces feel good chemicals in your brain. So does exercise but eating is so much easier!! I think you guys are onto something with the set point.

I agree with Bear, you are onto something.

I also see trends over time looking at the graph of my weight. For a while it will hover around a certain weight (up or down a bit), then go lower while still hovering, and I'd have to do something really crazy (eat a whole pizza and a big ice-cream and normal stuff the rest of the day) to make it go out of the new lower range.

Thats why I stagger cals over the week LC and it seems to be working so far! I think my hubby has to employ the same concept with sodium. If he goes low sodium every day his body doesn't want to release water. If he has one larger sodium meal in a week his body starts dropping the water. He still has to stay within an overall cap on his intake but tricking the body is key. The brain is so good at sending out signals to keep everything regulated. If you're low on something the brain tells the body to produce more and vice versa. So by keeping it guessing staggering cals and exercise is a great technique when you want to break through. That might be one reason fasting works for some.

Bearnoggin. I’m chuckling. Unfortunately your body doesn’t get the human concept of playing games to trick it into releasing sodium, etc. Good try though.

@Kenna Joe Dispenza repaired 6 fractured vertebrae using only the power of his mind. The more I learn about quantum physics, the more I’m convinced we can do nearly anything leveraging the power of our brain. Not to say I’m there yet, but I’ve been using mindfulness/meditation to help suppress appetite along with affirmations to drop weight. And some of my best days on the scale have come after cheat days. Not sure why, but I’m learning that my body/mind is capable of astounding things that I don’t always understand.

🐻, LaughingChevre, and jershie, I don't know why or how, but it certainly is my experience that there are things that happen unexpectedly for me. Pretty often in this journey, I've been holding at a particular weight with not much scale movement, when I've ended up slurging and having a calorie surplus for a day or two. Weight jumps up, and when I rein it back in the scale suddenly drops lower than where it was before. Changing the game brings some wins at times. I'm a CICO believer for sure, but we don't always know what makes us burn more or less.
