the scale is teasing me. I stayed the same as yesterday. I remember this kind of thing from the last time I added exercise to my daily routine. sometimes the weight even went up a little bit. I understand that it is because of building muscle which weighs more than fat but turns up the metabolism eventually. Anyway, the scale isn't the only measure and I feel good today when I thought I would be sore from hiking. So Here's to a great day and noticing my successes hour by hour.

This is happening to me too, I feel for you! Just added exercise back in and the scale even went up a bit! A bummer but I still feel good. Hope you have a great day too!

I've also heard that, when you first get back to exercising, your muscles tend to retain water for the first few days while they adjust to the change in activity level. This could also be the reason for no weight change.

What I do is measure my bust, waist and hips as well as my weight. Sometimes I lose inches and not weight, sometimes I lose weight and not inches. This helps me keep from getting bummed out and keeps me focused and strong.

Actually, muscle doesn't weight more than fat - 1 pound of fat and 1 pound of muscle weigh the same..... 1 pound.....so the retention of water could be the cause like Hollipop stated.

Yes, it takes weeks/months of hard work to build an actual pound of muscle. Muscles retain water to help them heal (google "why the scale lies"). Muscle is also more dense than fat and takes up less room, so you can technically weigh more and be a smaller size than someone who doesn't exercise. So don't stop. The scale will eventually catch up.

Way to go on the hiking. Wish I could do something that great. Keep it up those scales are going to move. Think of it this way the scales have no choice but to go downward if you are sticking to your plan. I actually locked my scale in the car trunk. If I kept it in the house I was going to weigh 3 or 4 times a day which I know is bad. Too cold to keep running to car to weigh myself and who does that anyway? :-) Best news is you feel great!!! Press onward!!:-)
