A "Sunrise" rose this morning! A couple of my girls made the most delightful treats. They looked rather like cow pies, so I didn't take a picture. Imagine a graham cracker topped with chocolate chips topped with a marshmallow topped with chocolate chip cookie dough... chilled and then baked into these massive toasty treats. Yep, I had one and then another the next day. But, I resisted more, which is a little triumph for me. Today I will start helping with a hand sewing class one of my daughters is teaching at "her" community center. It is a tutoring center for children mostly for refugees and immigrants from Somalia and the Middle East. She has volunteered there for 5 years. This is a paid position for her, and now I am a volunteer! It will be fun to see her share the mending and creating skills I helped her learn ages ago. I only have time to go a couple hours a week, but I am really excited!

Shir, it was a wonderful time. The two 1.5 hour sessions were not exactly "easy." I'm still not totally well... My ears still have pressure in them, so that isn't wonderful, but the classes were so great! The kids were eager to learn, and aside from the odd attempted "playful" stabbing with a needle, 😳the kids were actually very engaged. The littlest fell owas only 6, but my favorite group was the early teen boys! Competition served them well as they learned quicker than any of the little ladies. They were totally wanting help and did beautiful work on their projects! The first project is to make a tomato pin cushion... Of course to help corral sharp objects for the duration of the class!

Andrew, dear! You may be funny (I had to laugh). BUT, you are a beautiful human! God made you, so don't dis His amazing work or your dedication to sculpting the raw materials given to you! 😂Your kids don't get their good looks from just one side of the gene pool. 😊 Ok, scolding now over. 😁

ItaliaJo, thank you!!! It is amazingly special that my daughter invited me to assist her! We are very close, and over the years I've learned to love "her" kids through her stories and now I really get to connect names to faces. Two of the students she started tutoring five years ago are now very young adults who needed a place to go and now live with us. 😊 Although I've been in and out and around the center many times, this is my first official volunteer position. It is such fun to see my girl teach and be able to share in that! Sewing is a life skill too many never learn!
