I think you posted something similar just recently. Are you a serious play in this game or are you just talking about it. You can do this but you have to make up your mind as to whether you really want to. Good luck.

You can do it!

You got this!

Kenna, I’ll post it as many times as it takes for it to cement itself in my mind that I need to do right. Nothing keeps a person more accountable than putting it out there for the world to see.

Try fasting. It works for me.

Ladyindenim, I have thought about that, but I have to be careful with it, because I am a diabetic.

You can benefit from time restricted eating. You can start with a 12 hour eating window, like 7am-7pm and work your way toward a 10 hour window, such as 8am-6pm. Then settle in to an 8 hour window, 10am-6pm. You are right that if you fast for a day or more and are taking insulin and/or oral hypoglycemics, you need a doctor's supervision. Just like you need med adjustments when you restrict calories and lose weight, you would need medication adjustments while fasting. You would be fine with a 10 hour window, no problem. Search YouTube Jason Fung reversing diabetes.

I'd listen to your doctor and not YouTube influences, Buttercup. I do not consider Jason Fung to be a credible source https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Jason_Fung

I love treats! I think healthy smart versions, with lots of fiber/clean/nutritious/satisfying, are essential in my meals. I find replacing versus omitting works better for me personally.

I trust Dr. Jason Fung, and he is not alone. Angela Fitch MD, Associate Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Weight Center is featured in this article: https://giving.massgeneral.org/stories/doctor-recommends-intermittent-fasting People with 30-40 lb to lose (or even 80), have no idea what it's like to carry around 200 lb of body fat, or how easily your weight fluctuates, and how no one notices if you lose 15 lb or even 20. Read the article, watch some videos, make up your own mind. I can't tell you how freeing it is to have 319 lb behind me, how it is easier to walk, easier to stand up, easier to take care of myself.

LadyInDenim -- just because it worked for you doesn't mean it's healthy for everyone, nor does it mean that Jason Fung hasn't made a number of unsubstantiated claims. You can tout people on his side, but many people with solid credentials in nutrition science dispute his claims. And no one should be taking the advice of a kidney doctor turned author and influencer over their own endocrinologist when they have diabetes.

Thousands of diabetics are diabetic no longer because they are following fasting and low carb. Why shouldn't we share that information here? From Harvard, Stanford, Duke, U of Toronto. They are not quacks; they are healers.

erika -- if it works for you, do it. But when somebody says they have concerns over trying IF due to a medical condition, that's something they should discuss with their doctor

No one is telling Buttercup to ignore her endocrinologist. Writing, you didn't read the article. It is very conservative, full of common sense advice. She is an adult and states she feels cautious about fasting. Give her credit for some intelligence and don't block her hearing a variety of ideas, including mine, or Fung or Boz or Berry or Pelz or Huberman or Chattergee or Lustig or Banting or Jamnadas or Ekberg.

A quote from my comment to Buttercup in case honey or writing failed to read it, "You are right that if you fast for a day or more and are taking insulin and/or oral hypoglycemics, you need a doctor's supervision."

I absolutely agree, but it's helpful to know what questions to ask.
