Happy happy Sunday to everyone....
Was listening to a you tube about finding your fat burning zone if you use a heart rate monitor when you exercise...according to Mayo Clinic...you take 220... max heart beats per min...subtract your age...that will give you your max heart rate....for being in fat burning mode...
Mine comes out to 150.... I looked back thru a lot of my rides...my low is around 130 ...on a day I’m not really into it..and 164 as a high number on my last ride...of 40 miles...
The take away...from it all...like every thing it’s just another number in how to do better...it’s still all about eating what works for you...and getting some kind of movement...to help burn off what goes in...
Happy day to all..
Calm your mind..set your intentions....make it happen...

Fat burning is 60%-70% of your max heart rate. So if you consistently are at MHR like 150 you'd probably have some issues. So fat burning for you is 60%-70% of 150. I think either the video you watched was inaccurate or I forgot how to calculate 'fat burning' mode. Hopefully I wouldn't need to be at 100% of MHR to burn fat otherwise my actual fat that I'd burn is really just water and I'm screwed. Our of curiosity, what is resting hear rate? And your recovery period to RHR? Both these questions can provide some insight in to health for an individual. Keep pedaling and best of luck.

So, yes, moderate at 50-70% and vigorous up to 85%(according to the you tube video). I never heard them reference fat burning mode but at least I am not screwed and have no need to hit 100% of target for any reason other then an atomic stress test--which is why they (cardiologists) try to get you to 100% during a stress test. Phew...glad I'm not losing my mind.
