If you microwave bread for 10 minutes, you get an indestructible material. Don't ask how I know that. 

My guess is that oatmeal is not a regular part of your way of eating. Going healthy can often "back fire" and "blow up" in the kitchen. Everyone gets a do over in the kitchen unless you set it on fire. LOL

Been there done that. Oatmeal is so ugly to clean up. Last week I did my popcorn in the microwave. Done that for years. Exploded. You know those class bowls just blow to pieces. So grateful it didn't blow the door open. What a mess.

Omg hate that crap! Hate to clean it too. Whenever my husband does oatmeal on the stove top that’s what it looks like LOL.

That's how my oatmeal turns out,. best breakfast ever.  

I've done it a time or two myself.  

I suggest you stir hot water into the oatmeal, cover it, and cook on 50% power
