Diario de FullaBella, 29 oct. 13

I bet if someone did a geneaology search they'd discover less than six degrees of separation between James Dean and me (with my constant rebellious ways.)

I decided Sunday this was going to be indulgence week. I was going to increase my intake at least 50% for seven days in a row to encourage my body to start burning through calories like a lottery winner through money. Then once I ripped the lap tray away faster than a cancelled check my metabolism would be turned so high ...I'd... what? Have to file bankruptcy?

See, that's where that whole metaphor gets lost for me. What if I'm not able to stop after a week? If it takes 2-3 weeks of 'too low' calories to put the metabolism into starvation mode, how many does it take to dial it up with the late night online shopping? (whoops, doing it again)

But we'll never know, now, will we? Thanks to the 'rebel without a cause in me' I can't seem to abandon my EWYL hard learned rules well enough to eat that second biscuit loaded with peanut butter and jelly. Even trying to indulge my favorite nemesis, the night time snack stalker, is failing because the more I eat at night, the less and later I want to eat the following day.

Hummus, that's what I need. Good ole high calorie dense hummus. Wonder if they make a peanut butter hummus? That should be the equivalent of a Platinum Visa to my calorie spending spree while I master the possibilities.

Okay - enough... sorry. I had to make a quick dash to the BigCity today so I'm a little revved up from the driving and carbon monoxide. It's been a while too and didn't I feel like I hung around the Senior Expo a little too long yesterday when some young whippersnapper cut me off on the toll way! I don't drive that much or long anymore so I've got a huge case of the butt-ache right now as I stand at my counter typing this and trying to recover the feeling beyond pain.

My saving grace is that I have another deep tissue massage scheduled this afternoon AND I've managed to use the skillful art of manipulation to get DH to settle down about it. The past few times I've gone (lets see... there was that one in August... then the one a few weeks ago and then last week...yeah, really burning up the ole table aren't I?) he's displayed a less than pleasant attitude about it including muttering comments about me wasting money and closing the shop too often.

Rather than going head to head with him on this one, I finally delivered the line I practiced for a week in the back yard: 'I must really need that massage because apparently I'm so stressed it feels like you are resenting me doing something that makes me feel better and I KNOW that must be MY imagination..' Something along those lines anyway. What else was he going to say? So as if blessed by Karma, when I phoned to book this appointment I discovered she takes appointments later than in the past so win/win. DH on board, no interruption of interstate commerce (haha).

Cloudy and Murky day AGAIN. It's been this way since Saturday and that's about 4 days too many. I need to relocate somewhere warm and sunny. Years ago my work took me to Albuquerque, NM. I think they average 330+ days of sunshine a year. Once I got the spelling of that city down pat I think I'd be just fine.

Hope you are all having sunny days where you are today.

Glad you are getting another much needed massage and that you got around DH - that was quite skilful I might add :) I enjoyed your last two posts - they were very humours. Heck I enjoy all your posts. And thanks for your comments on your journal - I am indeed in that place again. It's okay, nobody but me keeps me prisoner so hope I'll be out soon. Hugs sista :)

Bella..I so love your journals..they make me laugh and think and jot down what you say to your DH..Like my shopping buddy said to her DH..when he wanted to know how much she had spent on the things she bought that day...She it cost about as much as your golf fees for a month...LOL...Loved it...:O)

I'm glad you were able to get another massage. Sounds so relaxing. I think you have earned those massages by all the care you give your husband. If you don't take care of yourself, you won't be able to care for him. Enjoy it!

You came up with a great strategy that worked at least as well as you wanted. Not only was it effective; it wasn't unkind at all, which makes it even better. A good lesson for us all.

I did genealogy last week by chance... I am related to a favorite genealogy tree, my dad's great grandmother was a Colby... and they go bakc to the 1630s here in Massachusetts. The tree was done, now I have to fill it in. Frighteningly, it looks like Dick Cheney is not too distant of a cousin! One ancestor fought for the North in the Civil War. I have very many, many famous cousins related to the Blaisdell and Colby lines. 6th to 10th cousins, dozens of famous ones, so I was shocked. My mom's side was done to the 1700s not one famous descendant in that tree, none. And so I am doing my father's side. I understand about the rebel part. And dieting is so difficult at times as it is easy to just put off a walk and have some pizza. I am back on low carb, it sucks in a way - but it is healthier too. I am going to force myself to start swimming at the gym too.

Very interesting way to deal with your DH. It's good to see what happens when we choose to not fight fire with fire. I have seen that when I respond from a place of serenity, they don't get the "food" they want to feed their anger, pain, frustration. Well done! I, too, love your journals, Bella. Thanks for sharing openly here & on mine. Ce

I had a long and trying day today and reading your journal gave me a much needed laugh. No massage for me yet but some retail therapy sounds really good right now.

Your husband must think you're so funny. Hope the deep-tissue massage helps. My trainer recommends that its done monthly. I rarely find mine relaxing, but they do help with IT band, quads and hamstrings, even if not stress relief.
