If you are at goal weight and have a hard time dealing with those small up and down changes order yourself an analog scale. If the dial is thick enough your weight reading can fluctuate without sending off alarms.

Ha! Good hack, those .02 wiggles are indeed annoying.

I’m think about going back to analog also. These digitals gives me random numbers, n they all eventually do it

Super the batteries died in my digital so I figured it was a good time to switch to analog !!

I'm fortunate my digital scale doesn't go to tenths. I also decided to keep a spreadsheet with a rolling 7-day average as my "true" weight. Still doesn't completely eradicate that mental twinge on a day I weigh in higher, but does keep it in better perspective

WYO I have read on FS that many members do something similar to what you are doing. I have a very small spiral notepad in my kitchen junk drawer where I have written down my weight every Saturday morning for the last five years No graphs or trends but sometimes I look back at where I was a year ago or 6 months ago.

Weekly works well for a lot of people, honeebuns. I'm hesitant to go that route because I've seen my weight go up or down 3 pounds in a day (even weighing consistently 1st thing in the a.m.), depending on what I ate and how I slept. Yesterday, nursing a pretzel freakout and anxious binge, coupled with exhaustion, I weighed in at 134. This morning, it was 131. I know dang well I didn't run a 10,500 calorie deficit yesterday 🤣 I've always been concerned if I go weekly, I'll get a false drop or jump. Plus, I like to nip gains in the bud. Really just depends on what works for you! 😃

I have considered using my weekly average in FS. My digital bluetooth scale connects to my phone and will automatically update to Fitbit. Fitbit then records the data and provides me a weekly average every Saturday. That is much more constant and allows for the daily fluctuations. I have not actually gone to this method yet... I think the daily routine helps to keep myself in check and fear going to a weekly reporting would allow for too much "cheat" snacking on my part.

WYO my “official” log as simplistic as it seems is my weekly notepad. I am not necessarily advocating others to weigh weekly or record weekly. I don’t weigh every day, but almost every day and log in FS randomly.

I still need to weigh every day. Fluctuations don't bother me when I'm eating on plan but I need that jolt in the morning when I've been overdoing it.

I have to reset my digital scale often by weighing myself with a box of heavy things, let it turn off, then get back on as normal. Sometimes several times. Otherwise, it reports the last saved weigh-in. I'm finding the digital scale is really bad for maintenance b/c of the constant reset needed.

Writingwyo-i am just like you i believe. I weigh daily to keep myself in check. I find the little ups annoying but today i went up 2 pounds from yesterday. No way i had an extra 7000 calories. I had under 1500 last night but did have boom chick a pop kettle corn so am guessing from that. If i weighed once a week im also afraid it would be up 5 pounds which would take a month to get off. Scale slavery.

Outer limit, my scale requires a reset anytime it has been moved.

Due to having small children I reset my skill anytime I go to weigh in. Otherwise I would have faulty weigh-ins each time I weighed in do my little helpers playing with it. 😀 For me it's better to just weigh in once every two to four weeks so I don't over correct do to anxiety issues "unless I start feeling fluffy" then I'll weigh in as a just in case measure. I'm currently in maintenance so it's less important for me at this time then it was when I was trying to lose weight after the baby. Although I do try to still keep up with it both to increase muscle mass, maintain current weight, and share my weight with my doctors to calibrate my medicines.
