Who's hungry!!!
I find that I'm thinking about food ALL THE TIME. I don't know if this is because I'm trying to diet so it's on my mind, or if because I'm dieting my fat storage is being consumed and my body wants to replace it. I'm not normally a person that eats snacks, but apparently, now I am. So, I am looking for budget conscious/low fat/ low cholesterol snack food. I avoid hard foods like carrots, they hurt my teeth. I've been eating a cup of dried cereal once a day. I'm sure that this is a phase, and I'll get past this soon. I HOPE that this is a phase and I'll get past it soon. It's the between meals that might get me. I'm enjoying the meals that I have been having. I just need to find the right, filling snack to get me to the next meal.

On a side note. It seems like most people using this app are keto, or low carbs. Am I the only one trying to monitor my fat and cholesterol intake? I see all these pictures of food with all kinds of diary, cheese, eggs, and even BACON!!! You're killing me! I need to see more sexy fish, and baked chicken pictures so that I can find inspiration. LOL. All kidding aside, thank you all for your inspiration.

Try cucumbers cut up. The ones like persian cucumbers as I will cut them up and eat them when I am craving things since you stay away from hard foods. They are awesome! I follow a macros diet that is high in protien. So 120 G. Protein, 50 G. Fat and 104 G Carbs. That is what works for me but everyone has a different approach but I love all the ideas out here.

I'm hungry even after I eat. It's quite annoying. i found baby pickles to crunch on. Then, I try to distract myself in hopes that my brain gets the I'VE ALREADY EATEN signal a few hours later!

I like Pepperidge Farm Goldfish for a snack. Satisfies my need for the crunch but they aren't too hard for me to eat. I don't do low carb. Heard some negatives about those diets. Gum also helps the urge to chew. Even when my brain says I need food. Also, if you're craving a certain food, look up what causes that craving. I desperately wanted chocolate for days. Then I started have muscle cramps. I know when the cramps start, I'm low on magnesium. Guess what chocolate cravings can come from. Yup...low magnesium. Took my supplement and cramps and craving went away.

My doctor said do “DASH” diet, then “Mediterranean”. Both raised my weight and made my blood labs the worst ever. Then she said “cut the carbs”. I did (first limit at 100g, lowered to 40g). I eat animal fat in the form of cheese, milk, cream (approx 50% of my calories), and proteins from animal sources in addition to isolated soy protein (approx 35%-40% of my calories). In six months my blood labs were PERFECT and I’d dropped 30 pounds. I’m now at 1yr+ with PERFECT labs and a total loss of 55 pounds. My opinion: fats don’t make you fat, carbs make you fat. Carbs break down into sugar which needs insulin to “process”; that’s what drove my insatiable sweet tooth/hunger (insulin swings and such). Low carb makes for small insulin swings and little hunger. I also drink up to 16 8oz glasses of water (decaf coffee & herb tea count) to keep my sodium level low and help flush “leftovers” from fat metabolism. My go-to snack is a soy-protein isolate smoothie (1/4c unflavored soy protein isolate, 1 tsp cocoa powder, no-calorie sweetener of choice, 1c water, 1c ice…blend well in a blender).

My favorite snack is apples with peanut butter. 2 Tablespoons is one serving of pb, but I try to only serve myself 1 tablespoon. You might be surprised how far that goes. Low fat cottage cheese is my other go-to. But then I am a cheese addict, lol!

I find if I increase my protein I decrease my hunger. I also increase fiber by eating more vegetables.

I took think about food all the time. I've said before that I am already planning my next meal while eating my current one. I eat raw vegetables alot for snacks but if you can't why not prep some cooked ones? Keep them in fridge and you can portion them out and hear as needed. My nutritionist does that. Another snack is fruit. I eat apples but berries are great and full of antioxidants. I make my own soft protein balls which have dark chocolate chips in them and satisfy the sweet tooth I get sometimes. Skinny girl popcorn once in awhile is also a good salty treat but need to have portion control on that one.

Are you eating ENOUGH calories? Remember you have to be in this for the long haul, so IMO it's better to go slower if it's more sustainable. As a carb-eating near-vegan, I've had the same experience with feeling like I'm swimming against the low-carb tide. Low carb works for a lot of people, but it's perfectly possible to use another strategy. What it all boils down to is that the diet that works is the one you can stick to. Low carb is a non-starter for me because you can have my bread and dried fruit when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers 😂 Every successful weight loss and maintenance involves restriction of some sort. What can you restrict that feels least restrictive to you? 🤔

So your post and just wanted to let you know that not all keto is bacon! I’m am 48 and started menopause last year. I gained 25 lbs in a few months. I am now down 15 lbs in 5 weeks. I am following Dr.Gotfrieds book Women, Food and Hormones. This book has changed my life. It is a super keto (high healthy fat)for the first four weeks but then eases up on what you can eat. My hot flashes and night sweats were gone after 2 weeks. The first week was hard but then I got my rhythm and I find it easy. I only snack on almonds and other nuts, seeds and dried coconut. This also allows u chocolate(85% dark) which I pair with a teaspoon of natural peanut butter (yummy). I eat a lot of leafy green veggies and salads! Check out the book! It’s available free on most library apps!
