Well, here we go, another day ~ beautiful weather here today .... makes me want to go sit at the park with a cup of hot coffee and a good book.

Wow - I think that actually hurt. No, I haven't changed that much yet. The normally sardonic sarcastic me is still here. I thought I'd give 'cheery' a try this morning but it felt like putting on a pair of really high heels with pointy toes. Oh well.

I'm reflecting on my visit to the Eye Doc yesterday. I wasn't that thrilled with having to go in the first place because my vision is fine and my contact prescription is fine but the 800Contacts couldn't fill my order without Doc's approval so I sort of felt like I was being held up especially as it cost $250 for just the exam and we aren't even finished yet and I still don't have a prescription to refill my contacts.

But the entire event from start to finish was just ... odd. It began with the receptionist or technician phoning me the day before to remind me of my appointment but then instructing me 'don't wear your contacts to the appointment.'

My bad, I seriously horribly criminally misinterpreted that as 'we'll need to examine your eyes without the contacts' so I took my solution & holder with me because my appointment was 4pm and I wasn't going to be driving around without my 'corrective lenses'.

Well, I was wrong, oh so wrong, as indicated by her snippy reaction. "I TOLD you not to wear them. Now he's going to have to examine you twice."

Oy vey ~ ah well. All of life is a learning lesson so I'm sure she'll be more distinct in her instructions to the the next contact wearing patient coming in to be held up for their prescription refill.

So after the 'better, same, worse' game the Doc decided to mess around with the prescription and if you wear contacts you'll likely identify but if you don't, let me explain.

There's nothing like inserting and removing and inserting and removing the contact lenses over and over in one setting to 1) aggravate the eye to the point that nothing feels comfortable and 2) aggravate the patient (ME) to the point I decided to take a Xanax before I kicked a hole in the wall. My vision was getting worse WITH each new attempt.

So now I'm wearing a new 'trial' prescription in my left eye and he has a new trial prescription for my right eye on order. So in a week or so I'll have to go through the same darn thing again and I swear, if they charge me for THAT I believe I will kick the hole in the wall because I already anticipate the discomfort of the musical chairs with the right eye contact lense.

My 'far' vision is actually worse with this new left contact. If it doesn't improve with the new 'right' contact I swear, I'll start shopping online for 'get your contact lenses filled here, no prescription required.'

Not really, my vision is very important to me (duh, who isn't) but I am sure I'll be shopping for a new Eye Doc by next year because as I was checking out the receptionist gave me 'Your Prescription for Glasses.' I told her "I don't wear glasses." And she said 'I KNOW."

And in my own little way of 'smile, thank her and get OUT of her without showing out or displaying irritation' I said 'okie doke' but in my mind I translated that to mean 'Yes, we know you don't wear glasses, obviously, because you were so rude and ignorant to show up wearing your contact lenses when I specifically told you not to', or something like that.

But I managed to get out of there with no bloodshed. Whew.

Okay so let's talk about the eating. Yesterday I was struggling with forcing myself to eat when I wasn't hungry to avoid the whole 'starvation leads to low metabolism' scenario. The end result was that by late afternoon (and it could have been brought on by the stress at the Eye Doc office) I was HUNGRY. I had to go to a couple of stores after that and found myself staring at food thinking 'wow, I could soooo Binge right now ... bring on the Everything.'

But, I didn't. Yea. Each time I avoid an emotional binge I feel better. I picked up a pack of Mann's Sugar Snap Peas at the grocery store (while getting everything else on my list).

When I asked the cashier if I could put those in my bag (during checkout) he gave me an odd look then put the yellow sticker of 'yep, paid for' on the bag commenting 'I've never had anyone ask that; usually it's candy.'

I said 'well, I'm really hungry and want something to snack on as dinner is about an hour a way.'

His response was 'that's really healthy' but then his look was one of mixed emotions or confusion. At 245lbs right now (down 40lbs from my start of 285lbs of which I'm very proud) I certainly don't look like a person who regularly makes healthy choices in eating.

But that's okay. Nonetheless, back to the force feeding situation. For today I decided last night that ON days that I don't feel hungry, don't feel like finishing my entire 'serving' of food, I'm going to let that happen naturally. It could probably be my body telling me something. I am going to accept that a natural 'fast' or 'decreased appetite' now and then won't hurt me as long as I don't justify it for going 'crazy' when my appetite resumes. No roll over RDI :-)

And with that, I should get to work ~~
