Day 4 of a planned 5 days of ‘no solid food’ fasting

Day 14 of 14 days of the "Challenge" with @SharonsVictory: No 'Binging' (more than 100 carbs) for two weeks

…yeah the scale not is still not moving and therefore is sucking away my motivation to stick to the diet. Normally, around Thursday I would have a 2-3 pound loss for the week, and I would fear messing up and ruining my achievement so far.

My motivation is always based on some fear and that fear is always:

• #1 Fear of losing something I (think) I have
• #2 Fear of not getting something I want

Fear #1 is the most powerful and would usually provide my motivation most weeks. The lack of weight loss this week has me mostly leaning on #2. The problem there is that I am no longer fat. In the mirror I don’t even look overweight. Motivation is therefore really hard to find…

If I gain a lot of weight, #1 will come raging back with a vengeance, so this motivation problem is really self-correcting 😊

As to why I think my weight loss this week, is less than the usual loss, (even though I have consumed the usual amounts of carbs, protein, fat, and calories as previous weeks), I think it is because I have not been to the gym nor run in nearly a week. Actually, I really don’t know. Perhaps my body is taking time to repair and reconfigure and doesn’t feel like dropping the usual amount of water weight.

I plan to do a 5 mile 🏃🏾‍♂️ run this morning before work.

Where the motivation to do that is coming from, I have no idea… Perhaps it is the fear of not acting the way I feel I should act? This fear is always there, but, is usually overridden by a greater fear. For me, the greatest fear always seems to win.

My ‘Ego’ (simply defined as the “way I see myself” (meaning: not necessarily the way I may actually be!)) ‘creates a story’ that says I:

• Will always do the ‘right thing’ and the ‘smart thing’
• Will eat right
• Will exercise

With all the other greater fears out of the way, the fear of not living up to my ‘Ego’ remains.

So, right now, this is keeping me on the ‘5 day no solid food fast’ (this simply provides the same level of macro nutrients as normal #Keto), and may get me out for a run before work…

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

@liv001 - I am going right now... (now the fear of looking like an idiot in front of my online friends is proving a HUGE motivation 😉 Thanks for that!)

Ahh motivation... how fickle it can be. If it rains, go to the gym! Try something different or just #squat! 😆😁😁

My motivation has been a bit low this week. Mostly I’ve just been trying not to implode 😣 But The week’s not over yet damn it! #legday

@CrashtestDawnie - ...Every day I got to the gym this past week was 'motivated' by the thought of you saying "Do you #Squat??" Haha 😜

That’s some great insight about fear, adef, and so true for me as well. I can really relate, especially since I fell yesterday. Hurt my foot/big toe, and am now off my feet for 1–2 weeks. Can’t walk the dogs now, and that’s where I got the majority of my steps in. Plus the throbbing/pain from my hurt toe really makes me want to lash out and just eat. I have to keep my eye on the prize and stay motivated. I only have 20 more pounds to go... 😬👍🏻

I use visualization to help motivate me: visualize myself wearing a particular outfit; the reading on the scale; or measurements. The cognitive dissonance between the vision and reality, can be a very powerful driver.
