This week was successful and I am very proud of myself. I told myself I would get to the next lower decade and I did! I avoided alcohol this week and I think that really helped. I usually only have one or two drinks a week, but it seems to wreak havoc on my weight loss goals when I do. It always sends me back up in weight at mid-week (I drink Tuesday evenings at bowling) and then I have to fight to get it back down on "weigh it and record it" day (Saturday).

I also went a full hour on the elliptical this week. While I could barely muster 10 minutes on the lowest setting at the start of the year, this latest achievement means that training for a 5k is totally doable. I will need to pay attention to my joints and knees, but I think I might be able to pull it off. It looks as though it is time to start splitting elliptical with jogging. In addition to the cardio, I also work on weight machines, do squats, and swing that kettle ball.

The only disappointment I had this week was not getting my blood test results from the doctor. I have been waiting a while, but she has been on vacation. Hopefully, I get them early next week so that I can add that in as another achievement along my path.

I did have a "treat yoself" moment yesterday (actually, it took 3 hours)... I bought (leased) a new car! This was another HUGE step up for me - I have come so far in the past six years (from abused wife, to single parent, to successful human being). Getting something like this for myself was not even feasible six years ago. Yes, I still factored in that I am a mom (so it is not a two-seater sports car) and that I live in Colorado (so it has all wheel drive), but I now get to say that I have a luxury car with all the bells and whistles. I am leasing a BMW X3 and I am so happy! I have never had something this nice to drive. I want to do a road trip right now!!

Happy Easter everyone! I am wishing you all the joy that this season brings with it. The opportunity for starting over and doing it right!
