Yay - the blurry vision cleared up. Thank you all for your concerns and suggestions. I had checked the B/P and it was okay but as I'm now 60+ days without a paring knife related injury in the kitchen getting a blood sugar check for me is hard to do; no matter how many times I 'prime to the finger' and poke needles, no 'sample'. I can never get a pulse by feeling my neck either. Maybe I'm really not human?

Maybe it was low blood sugar and I cured it last night with the most outrageous craving fulfillment of PANCAKES at 10PM! I tried to reason the craving with 'You just want something sweet, have a tsp of syrup' but an hour and a liter of water later (this began about 8:30 and I kept trying to work through the craving) I'd tried some syrup, some butter, some syrup and butter and finally said 'okay, make the freaking pancakes.' So I did. First time I've had pancakes in about four years. Will probably be another four years before I want them again.

My apologies for the train metaphors on my journal yesterday seeming politically incorrect; I was behind on my international news. Please know I rarely ever write anything with intentional malice.

I did go strappy sandal shopping but nothing took my breath away so I got a pedicure instead. I am still working through my 'how do I want to dress when I grow up' thing and everything I saw just looked so ... redundant. Been there, done it, worn it, don't wanna wear it again. I'm starting to understand how some old ladies end up wearing curlers in their hair and bathrobes all day; they're tired of thinking about it.

I think on my mini-vacation I'll stalk a few fashionable women. Maybe with a notepad I could pull off the ice breaker with 'I'm fact gathering for a fashion magazine and want to know where you got that lovely blouse'. What would you do if a stranger in quirky attire approached you like that?

Let's see, anything else? Oh, I'm probably the only person in the world who's 'overnight bag checklist' includes 'pickles'. I was up twice last night with really bad leg cramps.

That's about it - I'm hungry. Thinking about tuna & sauerkraut....

about the train thing... oh gosh! Please do not take it that way! There is no way you were Politically Incorrect or incorrect in any way, form or fashion. My comment was really about the oddity in the timing of your metaphor considering of all the train happenings. It seems that sometimes the universe makes things happen in droves and even your brain without knowing captured that wave of events. (Yes, I'm one of those that believe in spiritual cosmic energy.) To tell us that you never write anything in malice is unnecessary. Without knowing you, I am quite sure that malice is not in your essence. About your craving - yes, I've had those, where they just don't go away... it's awful. I have a glass of wine instead or watch a funny show to get distracted.

Sometimes cravings refuse to back off. Sounds like you did what you could to avoid it. I'm picturing myself taking a teaspoon of syrup like a dose of cough syrup. How lovely would it be if cough syrup tasted like pancake syrup. Sigh. Glad that blurry vision is gone. When I googled it alot of scary stuff came up. I was worried. <3

So glad you are blurry no more, my dear friend! I was up during the night with leg cramps too. Tell me about the pickles? Ironically, while I don't usually have them, at the restaurant in NYC whe we had lunch yesterday, they were served & I had a couple pieces. I'm assuming you will carry them to prevent leg cramps, so they probably didn't cause mine! I have to go back to read your journal from yesterday, but already know there is not an ounce of malice in you! Xoxox

Quirky? Unique! Take the pickles and the pancakes and the sandals - you deserve it all. And thanks for being willing to look at EVERYTHING in a different light.

Leg cramps - have you tried tonic water? The quinine in the tonic helps legs cramps and is likely more socially acceptable in one's carry on bag than pickles :) Glad the blurred vision has cleared up - maybe the pancakes cured you :) I make great home made pancakes - now you've made me want some - maybe I'll surprise my daughter with some on Sunday morning. She is a bit down right now and could use cheering up. Thanks :)

Pancakes...yum I just love them Bella.. I am behind on your journals so will have to backtrack yet again. I am happy your vision has cleared up and Yea for no kitchen injuries...lol ..You know people ask me clothes and shoes questions everyday..lol and I ask if I want to know something so I don't think anyone would think that is odd..It's a great way to find what you're looking for and to meet new people. Isabel I never heard about tonic water for leg cramps. Thanks for sharing that. Also hope your daughter cheers up. Bella I am going to read the rest of your journals!

Pickles in the carry on!?! I would be afraid of the smell if they broke, maybe just buy some when you get there. Sarahsmum has reminded me that my Grandmother had a prescription for quinine tablets for her leg cramps. As to the pancakes "the body craves what the body needs" for whatever the reason ;)

I've never heard about pickles for leg cramps. I'm pretty behind in some things!! I always grab a bag of veggies or something frozen and either hold it on my foot or stand on it. No worries about ruining anything, you only need it for a minute. My husband told me of that. He ran track in school, and thats what he did to get rid of the cramps. I'll keep the pickle thing in mind!

aha, cravings, annoying, sometimes you have to go for what you wanted in the first place. saves calories really.

I second that-if you want it that badly, just eat it and have done with it! It stops the whole process right there. Otherwise you spend the next week eating mountains of everything else to compensate.
