Fasted 22 hours. Finally made the club sandwich I have been meaning to. When I was a little girl, occasionally we got to have lunch in the Walgreens coffee shop at the mall, which was huge for me. I often got these. This is how they served it. The great thing about it is I already tracked all of it! Special note to shirfleur, when my roommate saw me putting it together, he said "Now that's a Dagwood!" And I was reminded that I never replied to your comment on my other post. Sorry, Shir! But lol, yes we know the reference!

We called it a club sandwich, which is 3 pieces of toast, with turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo. A country club is the same thing but with ham instead of bacon. I used chicken because I don't like turkey. I also added avocado, so I call it a California club. I believe a Dagwood just means any big deli sandwich (I may be mistaken about that), and as Shir said, it refers to the sandwiches eaten by Dagwood Bumstead in the old Blondie comics. Are you sorry you asked? 🙃

Oh no, this is great. I worked in a deli as a kid and forgot all this great stuff. Also, the Blondie comics. There was a soda pop bar shop. Wow, I might be old lol :-)
