The weight loss process can be frustratingly slow. I guess I should be happy with the loss, and I am, but I was a pound lighter a day ago. Had a purchased gyro salad for dinner yesterday, it probably was high in salt. Anyway a loss is a loss. When I got serious about losing weight a couple months ago I'd envisioned the pounds coming off so much more quickly than they have. Gotta follow my own advice, a loss is a loss.

In a few minutes I'm going to do a workout on the elliptical, I'm in a 16:8 fast, I plan to do the same thing tomorrow. Tomorrow night we're going to see Pirates of Penzance at the dinner theater so I'll prepare for that by eating very light tomorrow during the day and I'll be thoughtful about what goes on my plate for dinner. Other than that no parties or celebrations planned this holiday weekend which is good. I don't want to spend the first 2 or 3 days of next week in "recovery mode" from a weekend of not following my plan.

Hoping everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July weekend.

It can be slow, but it's those little losses from week to week that add up into big substantial losses. Almost two pounds is great progress. One day at a time :) Have a wonderful fourth of July!!

You give good advice! Slow weight loss stays off; if you lose it fast, not only will you probably gain it back, but you will probably end up weighing more than you did when you started. As long as you're headed in the right direction and exercising, you're doing great!

When I read your post, you made me and probably a few others know that every body is basically in the same boat. We have to be patient with our bodies. Thanks, I needed that. Have a great 4th and have a great time at the dinner theater.

Yup, take your own advice, a loss is a loss! 😊. Good job on that pound! It'll be more next week. Have a great fourth and enjoy your show tomorrow!

It's taken many years to gain the weight, stay focused, plan ahead for those special occasions. Lifestyle changes are hard at first. Slow and steady wins the race......I've heard that someplace. Good luck this weekend.

I looked over your diet calendar. Are those the calories you're eating? Are you logging everything? If so... are you using a scale to weigh your food to be sure of how much you're getting? Hidden calories? Sugar in your coffee? Oil uncounted in the frying pan? If you're weighing and counting everything, you're correct. You should be see a higher loss over the last month and a half. I was shocked at how high my calorie intake was when I compared what the scale told me to what I was assuming was the amount of calories by measuring and 'guestimating'.

Thanks for the comments and support, much appreciated. Bruce, I could do a better job with accurate measurements. I don't have a scale accurate enough to weigh things other than by the ounce, and while I use it or measuring cups/devices most of the time I don't always. At times if eating out or I don't have complete control I guesstimate, trying to be accurate as best I can. But honestly there are likely more calories consumed than my food journal is showing on a number of days. This past couple weeks have been a struggle emotionally, just some heavy stuff going on personally, I'm dealing with it, but it affects my eating. Looking over what I've recorded I've remembered a few things I didn't record that went into my mouth.

Wow Jmb. I'm right there with you on the emotional stuff on your plate. 5 things on the go now. Electronic food scales are about $30 or less. Completely worth the money.

Ok my friends.....some recommendations on a kitchen scale?
04 jul. 14 por el miembro: jmb3450
Ozeri kitchen scale. Amazon. $16/ Same batteries in it for 3 years. Gives you g, kg, oz, lbs. Goes up to 11 lbs on mine. Wonderful wonderful wonderful. Accurate.

It's funny how the scale teases you. When you expect a good loss, you get nothing, and sometimes you think your going to have a up tick and you wind up losing a couple. Although I weigh myself every day, I only use Friday's weigh in as my official one. I use the daily ones to keep me focused, and when I see a good tick down, I try to make sure I don't do anything that would make me give back that loss. I try not to dwell on the numbers as long as I have a loss for the week. From reading other posts, I come to realize that two things especially can throw off your weight. Namely Salt and Throne time. Them problems seem to work themselves out in a couple of days. As for a kitchen scale, I bought the EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale, Black Chrome from Amazon for $25.00. Works well. They have a lot of different choices on Amazon for kitchen scales. Good luck finding a scale and keep on track.

I looked up 16/8 diet and it is what I do! I didn't know that. (I eat a huge breakfast, & lunch, not much wanted after.) But after Reading your post brings up concerns when you say for today (or any day) you are going to cut down on eating during the day and eat a large dinner. from http://www.diet-blog.com/13/8-hour-diet-starve-yourself-for-16-hours.php quote: Many suggest waiting to have breakfast to help with this. But, research proves that breakfast is best for the metabolism if eaten within the first hour of waking. end quote.

When I get frustrated about not losing weight, I try to motivate myself by realizing that I at least I didn't GAIN any weight.

Erika... excellent way to go about it. Kind of like me about mail. No mail is good mail as it usually contains the bills.

We all feel the pain of the weight going off so slowly but you are losing and doing it well! I know that what I have to work off right now is just hanging on by a thread or I'd like to think so I just love to imagine what it's like with out it. sigh. So though soon! You are doing great!
